Every Spring, Halestone gives each studio dancer a chance to showcase their creative growth during months of training and recital preparation. At whatever level you contribute, your sponsorship affords students this experience, and helps Halestone accomplish its mission of providing innovative dance for all. Your gift allows around 80 dancers to take the stage, perform artful storytelling through movement, and bring joy to families and regional audiences.
My Heart Kept Dreaming
My Heart Kept Dreaming is an exploration of the subconscious and a continuation of last year’s spring production, Rooted in What Remains. Centered on themes of time and cyclical experience, the two works function as companion pieces—contrasting one another as reflections of reality and the subconscious. While each performance stands on its own, together they form a complete loop, offering two perspectives on the same passage of time.
Moving beyond previous Appalachian influences, this year’s production broadens its cultural perspective. Artistic Coordinator Kathleen Gale has partnered with students from Washington and Lee University to incorporate elements of African dance, and collaborated with Butoh artist Julia Vessey to integrate the avant-garde Japanese form often described as the “dance of darkness.” These collaborations expand the company’s movement language and introduce distinct physical frameworks that support the work’s exploration of the subconscious.
Our Mission
Halestone is a place where anybody, and everybody can dance. We enrich the Rockbridge County area by providing access to quality dance experiences and education in nurturing environments. We foster the creative process, artistic excellence, and joy. We empower individuals and communities to make, perform, and experience original dance as a theoretical, technical, and expressive art.

Recital Sponsor
$500 and up supports our ability to rent Boxerwood’s garden space. This level includes a half-page ad in our recital program, prominent display of name & logo and 4 tickets to the show.

Friend of Halestone
Any amount up to $100 to support our operations. We thank you by name in our program.

Technical Sponsor
$250 and up supports our ability to stage and photograph the show. This level includes a quarter-page ad in our program, logo/name display, and 2 tickets to a show of their choice.

Raffle Contributor
An in-kind donation (valued at $50.00 or more) supports our dancers. Raffle contributors will be thanked in our program and named at the raffle drawing. It is one of our best fundraisers of the whole year.

Dancer Sponsor
$100 and up covers a dancer’s recital fees. Because we want all dance students to participate, including our scholarship students, this is a key level. Contributors will be thanked by name in our program.
